Residency Criteria

Residency Criteria

What are the Residency Criteria?

To be eligible for a grant, you must have been resident in the Irish State, the EU, EEA, UK or Swiss Federation for three of the last five years.

If you have been living in the EU, EEA, UK, or Swiss Federation but not in the Irish State for three of the last five years, you are a tuition student.

A tuition student, if they meet all eligibility criteria, is eligible for the fee grant only and will not receive a maintenance grant.

There are no exemptions to this rule. It applies to all applicants including, for example, volunteer development workers returning from abroad to undertake studies.
